I absolutely LOVED Bush…until I saw them live. I worked at the Phoenix New Times at the time, and was able to see the Bush/Goo Goo Dolls/No Doubt show for free. The Goo Goo Dolls were adequate, and No Doubt — particularly Gwen — blew the doors in. But then, Bush came on and were straight-up boring. I don’t think it was specifically Gavin’s good looks that turned people off; more like his arrogant, “I can’t believe I have to be up here performing for plebes” arrogance. I still listened to Sixteen Stone, but I didn’t follow any more of their music after that. Became a BIG No Doubt fan, though.
I saw them on that tour too, it was one of the first concerts I ever went to so I didn’t have much to compare. I do remember No Doubt stealing the show
